Acupuncture/dry needling

Acupuncture is a practice that involves insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow, decrease pain, improve connective tissue mobility, and to promote healing.
Dry needling involves the use of acupuncture needles into myofascial trigger points (muscle knots) whereby an efficient decrease of tension is achieved, allowing for decrease in pain, improvement in blood flow and optimizing the function of muscle tissue.

Benefits

  • Alleviation of pain and reduction in discomfort.

  • Promote tissue relaxation.

  • Stimulation of nerve pathways.

Cupping

Cupping is a treatment method in which a cup is placed on the skin and a pump is used to create a vacuum, which causes the skin to rise. The blood vessels will expand, which brings circulation to the tissues and creates a massage effect. The cups are commonly placed on areas with abundant muscles. The residual marks left from cupping disappear in 1-10 days.

Benefits

  • Increase in blood flow to sore areas in muscles, promoting healing.

  • Pain relief achieved by exciting small nerves inside muscles so that they release pain-reducing chemicals.

  • Helps to reduce muscular restrictions, scars and adhesions, to increase range of motion.
